I apologize first off for this may be a topic that has been discussed to death already, but whenever I search for it, I get thousands of unhelpful results.

With DosBox I have been able to play some of the old Sierra games if nothing else, with sound, for the very first time, but I am having a hard time figuring out how to save the game and imagine it has something to do with how the drive is mounted.

In this case, I referring specifically to Quest for Glory 1 (EGA) from the Quest for Glory Anthology CD-Rom.

I read some forums that suggested that you don't want to mount your DVD/CD drive (in this case for me E:) onto the same drive in DosBox. I suppose this might have something to do with my troubles. When I try to save the game, it tells me that the directory is full. When I try to change the directory (to C: for example) this is not a valid drive. I am not very saavy when it comes to these things, so any advice would be appreciated!

If you are running it from the CD you will not be able to make any configuration changes or save any games. Copy the game's folder to the harddrive and mount it as your C: drive in DOSBox. Run INSTALL to set the game up and then run SCIV.EXE to play the game. You will now be able to save the game. If you don't know how mount the game's folder in DOSBox, follow MiniMax's link.
