Dear all,

Giving my own experiences I would conclude:

1. always use dos4gw when you want full stability
2. there are no (measurable) performance differences between dos4gw, PMode, Dos32a etc.

Linked external benchmark:

Do you have any other experiences where you really could measure differences in fps eg?

Thanks

Fwiw, I think I saw improvements in "Absolute Zero" running in DOSBox when switching to DOS32A, but it's been a long time, so I may well be mistaken - and it also hardly applies to real hardware. Iirc they also had their copy protection injected in there (i.e. all of it in the extender, none of it in their own .exe, odd choice - plop in a different extender and bye bye Laserlok or whatever it was) so that may have been another factor.

Doom loads faster in DOS32A.

I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
PS. If I upload RAR, it is a 16-bit DOS RAR Version 2.50.

That's a no from me using Dos32a. At best, no difference. At worst, it breaks the game. I just keep whatever the game comes with now.

(I typed out a longer response but it disappeared when I clicked submit. Apologies if it appears later)

i stick to pmodew or wdosx and rarely sometimes dos32a (usually this one last choice).

that chart is also wrong with its max addressable memory, dos4g pro could do the 4g, not 64mb, I also dont believe the pmodew max memory is 64mb either.
