Hi, I'm trying to get my asus a8v to detect my SATA SSD without luck. There's 4 differnt sata ports on the board where two black ones seems to be the standard SATA1 ones and two red RAID ones. The raid ones detect my ssd and goes into array installation which I have zero knowledge about. The black ones wont detect in BIOS. I've been trying to update the bios through an USB to potentially fix it but , yeah, I only get a "missing operative system" error when trying to boot the USB.
Any thoughts?

Alright so in order to try that I need to first install Windows through a standard IDE HDD, just to use the program. I was hoping it was doable in bios in someway..

Everyone was hoping VIA would release a new firmware version for the 8237 chipset so everyone could get their brand new SATA 2 hard drives working.
But instead, VIA released a new version of the chip.

If VIA does not see the drive in BIOS, the operating system will not help.
If you're not looking for adventure, buy a SATA-IDE bridge adapter, for example, Jmicron based.
