Not sure if command.com needs to be put in a particular place, but when I added it, it stopped everything else from loading properly after. Specifically the CD-ROM driver. Also, SHELLHIGH doesn't appear to work.

Is there a specific command that needs to be typed? Because if I put DEVICEHIGH=COMMAND.COM at the bottom, it stops doing anything. DOS no longer loads anything else; I get no text parser. Even Windows is prevented from loading.

Load COMMAND.COM using SHELLHIGH, not DEVICEHIGH. It's not a device driver but rather a command prompt. 😀

Yeah, that's what I tried the other day, but it didn't recognise it.

Then I guess we have no choice but to keep COMMAND.COM in Conventional memory. 🙁 On a side note, if you use the command prompt more than occasionally, try DOSKEY. It's included with most versions of MS-DOS and adds support for better editing, macros and command history. There are also replacements online. I quickly looked online for them but can only find dosed520.zip at http://www.retroarchive.org/garbo/pc/cmdutil/index.html, but there are others.
