Hi, i'm finalizing a new project : X2GS-USB

  • Dream 5000 series synth chip with 81 voices polyphony, high quality effects engine
  • High quality 24 bit DAC, 3.5mm line out connector
  • compatible with X2GS, so it can use the same soundbanks
  • officially licensed GS soundbank (license sticker inside the enclosure)

Kindly received permission from Dream to place the license sticker at the inside of the enclosure.
This makes sure it doesn't rub off after some use. So there you can find it.

This thing sounds and works great! It was very easy to plug in into my USB port and all I needed to do was one little audio cable from the stick into my line-in. Fantastic Roland sound out of the box.

By the way, I know Sound Canvas has become more accessible than ever, with the easy and accurate SC-55 emulator by Nuked. That's no reason at all to dismiss this product. Despite it having a licensed Roland GS bank, it does really have its own sound compared to a Roland SC-55. I even prefer some sounds on this one, like the Brass. Sounds a lot more synthy on the X2GS-USB, which I prefer. And that goes for many more instruments. A bit less faux-orchestral and more synth.

Now there is one particular soundtrack that sounds REALLY good on this one. Both better than using my Roland SC-55 MKII, as well as even the SC-88 recordings included with the game. And that is the infamous naughty Visual Novel game from Japan, Bible Black. I have recorded them all and uploaded the full soundtrack here, recorded with the X2GS-USB: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxDnrs … -nYyt0bAPUG8rYw

Thanks! BTW, if you ever design a matching USB DAC with a line in, I'll order that too. A tiny little audio stack to pair with MiSTer or similar devices.
