Hello! I've lurked this forum for a long time, at least since 2011. I recently got one of these M748LMRT boards, and so it looks like I've found a calling to post here!

Hi, thank you! 😀 And yeah, that's for darn sure! The board I have seems happy enough after that repair, but I feel that in terms of the actual electronics design & PCB quality - as my article says - it's kinda held together with hopes and dreams, so to say I'm not a little nervous about it still would be inaccurate. So, I'm gonna be stability testing it a whole lot. Hopefully it'll behave from here on out!
And for the record, I went ahead and tested out the original subject of this forum post. I can confirm that this board selects PCI as the default BIOS option for video output, and that it will indeed output video there, at least on my Compaq 296684-001 PCI video card with an S3 ViRGE/GX 86C385 chipset. I went and updated my website article with this information, and here's a photo to show. Works in BIOS as well as Win98SE no problemo!
