Hi, all

I'm trying to get a GF1-based GUS to work on a Chaintech CT-6SSA2 motherboard. However, the card isn't detected at all in both DOS and Win95 (not in the POST table either).

The configuration is as follows:

Celeron 300A@450
64MB RAM
Matrox G400 Max
3COM 3C905

Tried the following:

1) different GUS — neither CD3 nor Max work, but PnP does, so seems to be a problem with GF1 specifically
2) different ISA cards — AWE64, Turtle Beach Tropez all get picked up
3) disabling onboard audio (ESS Solo-1)
4) removing the NIC, changing the video to S3 Trio3D
5) reserving all IRQs and DMAs for ISA in BIOS, disabling COM, LPT and USB

I know it's a long shot, as this is a pretty esoteric combination (couldn't find any mentions even on Google Groups), but any suggestions welcome.

Do you have any options to lower the isa bus speed. Anecdotally the gf1 gueses have exhibited some errors like skipping sound playback on machines related to the bus speed. If your bus speed is faster than normal maybe it's related to your issue.

Not in the BIOS. I thought about this, tried running with FSB at 66, but that didn't help. I'll look if maybe there's a hidden option in the BIOS with modbin or something.

Then again the datasheet for the clock chip doesn't mention ISA at all, so maybe it gets the clock separately.

Just curious, why not use the gus pnp in this PC if it works? The gf1 gets you different sounding sbos, which I think I'm one of the few people who considers that a great perk, but the actual gus mode playback in games and demos ought to be about the same with the pnp?
