Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition (GOG)
Nice! This is a great re-release. I remember renting the original game ("Out of this World" as it was called here in the US) multiple times for either the SNES or Genesis back in the day and only ever getting to the first elevator in the first level of the prison. Using an emulator helped to get farther but it was still extremely tough even with a ton of repetition and save-state reloading.
The 20th Anniversary Edition offers a really tasteful improvement in visuals (exact same style, just not so blocky), has updated music and sound and has some nice quality of life improvements... at least in the easier mode that was added in this version. That is what I played when I went through it around 10 years ago.
It's worth mentioning that the GoG version also has a TON of bonus downloads... namely, the whole 15th Anniversary Edition, which is more like the original visually (but still higher resolution) and I think has the original music and sound, while having more checkpoints than the original to make it less difficult. So, a great half way point if you're a bit more of a purist.
They also provide the disk image for the Amiga version, which is really awesome if you are in to that, a making-of documentary, the sound track in FLAC... It's an awesome package. Amazing that such a pack is given away for free. I have bought a fair amount of stuff on GoG, but I'm loving the Prime Gaming + GoG freebies deal. A really nice Prime perk IMO. 😀
