Today I saw this at the second hand shop, what caught my attention are the 2 GPU cooler retention brackets!

Apparently it's a Dell Radeon 3870 X2 but there are no clear markings on it. Now it's mine.

That's a seriously nice find! Hopefully it still works

Well I'm lucky, after some light cleaning it works perfectly fine and it's not as loud as I expected. In GPU-Z it really shows 2 GPUs with 512MB memory each.

paid far to much for a ViewSonic PF790 close to 500$ but I wanted a late higher end CRT with more of the look of a older CRT and I wanted a nice one at that, once I get it I'll fix up the Diamond pro I have now, it has some bluing around the edges and I had to remove the anti glare coating years ago. would be cool to try a dual head CRT setup wile I'm at it 🤣.

I had a Viewsonic 17” with VGA/BNC Memory of it handling 120hz. Like so many others, I stupidly tossed it.

I had ordered a "Sunpower" AT PSU (not intentionally for the name heh) and for whatever reason it's causing CMOS to reset every power cycle. It also does this thing where it seems to send a surge of power to all my drives (like their LED lights will engage) and there's a garbly flash on the monitor when I power it off. None of my other AT PSUs do this. The 5V and 12V rails are stable and it didn't show any kind of voltage surge on shutoff. I don't know much about PSUs so don't know what's wrong with it but either way I don't like it at all and there's no return policy so now I'm stuck with a glorified weight.

If you bought it on ebay or paid via paypal file a return/case with the option damage or not as described and the seller will be forced to take a return. If you bought it elsewhere send it back with tracking and contact your bank assuming you paid with a visa/master card and file a charge back once tracking shows it was delivered back to the seller. You may have to call you bank if you used visa/master card debit card but they have the same charge back rights as credit cards.

Well, if there's a "no return" policy, consider this an opportunity to learn something about PSUs. 😉
Unplug it, take the top off, and post some picture in a new thread (or here) and let's see what's inside. That way, if it turns out to be a total POS, others will be able to see why.

Found the Silverstone FLP01 case locally recently.

The attachment Silverstone FLP01 case.jpg is no longer available

I'm thinking it might good for an all-in-one retro P4 build. There is definitely of cooling for it with dual 120mm intake and a 120mm exhaust. I also really like the extra horizontal slot on the back, which seems a good place to put a CF adapter.

Only real issue is being limited to a single 5.25" drive bay, but that isn't a deal breaker by any means.

Interesting case but certainly not cheap here in Canada at over $375. Wish they’d have made the lower USB door match the horizontal grill lines instead of trying to make it look like a drive.

to me it kind of is. At least for anything pre-P4. Because if you want such a case it is mostly about functionality + design. And as the case already suggests there should be a 5.25" drive. But then you dont have a 3.5 inch drive nor a CD drive? But for a P4 build it is no longer authentic. The design is clearly from an area before the P4. Beige desktop P4 designs were usually low profile with slim CD drives and rarely a slim 3.5" floppy drive. Everything else was black towers.

I'm in Canada. Got mine at Canada Computers for $189 (+ tax). Admittedly not the cheapest case, but there isn't much else like this on the market.

Not quite sure what you mean by this. The case does have a 5.25" drive bay. So you can fit either an optical drive (CD/DVD) or a floppy drive.

Okay, I think you were talking about a 5.25" floppy disk drive specifically. Whereas I meant it had a 5.25" sized drive bay.

But you don't really need a floppy drive in most systems from the ATX era (e.g. Pentium and up). Sure it's nice for authenticity, but it's not needed in most cases for practical reasons. Just a CD drive would be enough.

Yes, to me the silverstione desktop case still makes most sense for a modern build with a retro aestetic. All attempts to use real retro hardware seem to end up in builds that are not authentic in one way or another. Although I aggree that a P4 build in this case will look better that 95% of the black cases of the time. The new Silverstone tower design may be the better option for a early ATX build - but that price tag - you could get a real period correct AT or ATX machine for that price...

Browsing through our national marketplace site, an ad comes up saying 'computer stuff' with vague description, and the first picture being an old 15" TFT monitor. Only 55 views in 12 days.

Ok whatever, lets see the other 22 photos...

Then, photo #13 comes up:

Meh... loose VGA cable .... some ultra generic TNT2 M64 probably ........ FireWire stuff.. and..... what in the world....

So I contacted the seller and within hours I made the deal of the year. Got the address, which was a 20 minute drive. At the door he said it was stored in working condition. And yes. Behold.

Bought another 386 laptop - Packard Bell 386SX25 without the HDD
Didn't boot and post. Need to replace the Dallas chip, ribbon cable from LCD to motherboard and check the previous rework on a power supply board, recap a LCD.

Holy cow! It has the manual, CD and passthrough cable? It's quite rare to find 110Mhz RAM chips on a Voodoo II. It's in beautiful condition too!

Awesome find!

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Thanks! Yeah pretty rare occasion to find cards like these in the wild. I had a 110 MHz card before, sold it regrettably, but this one's a keeper.

Exactly the reason why I browse these sites like a maniac every 2 hours. So much treasure and people are often too lazy to scroll through all pictures, that's how I got my first MDA monitor that was hidden among a bunch of crappy TVs.

This Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 Ti reference card in a retail box arrived today and it is absolutely as cool as it looked in the pictures.

The attachment 20251117_144827 (Custom).jpg is no longer available

(My cat loves it when I unbox things... she will sit with me on the floor and inspect things as I pull them out. She does this every time... 🤣 )

Nvidia's packaging is awesome and there's a lot of really cool stuff here. As far as I can tell, this is 100% complete, all the serials match and the GPU looks to have been barely used in a dust-free environment... the owner even put the plastic film back on the GPU when they boxed it up (and the piece covering the logo on the card is still in place). Almost every surface in the packaging has shiny embossed Nvidia logos. Even the tiny stickers on the packages for the power and video cables have Nvidia logos on them.

The attachment 20251117_145408.jpg is no longer available

The stickers on the back of the card kind of remind me of EVGA. I wonder if they actually built these for Nvidia?

The attachment 20251117_145706.jpg is no longer available

There are also weird snarky comments in some places on the backs of things.

The attachment 20251117_145828.jpg is no longer available
The attachment 20251117_145009.jpg is no longer available

I have no idea where these were sold but they seem to be quite rare. Nvidia didn't sell Founders Edition cards until the GTX 1000 series, though they did start selling something similar without calling it Founders Edition during the 900 series. I have seen a few scattered pictures of a GTX 460 and 560 (non-Ti) with similar Nvidia retail packaging but most of those were reviews on tech sites.

I own an original Nvidia Shield tablet and the packaging for that is very similar to this... but even that was released four years after the 560 Ti. If anyone knows how\where these were sold, please let me know.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

If they won't accept the return I'll go ahead and do that, because unfortunately it still has one of those good ole "void if broken" stickers hehe.

I'm curious though because it does have a bit of weight to it, so it doesn't feel cheap or anything.

This looks pretty neat! What era was that card from? I'm not very familiar with this time period of cards, so I have no reference point.

I know I can look it up but that's boring when someone passionate about their new acquisition probably wants to talk more about it 😛
