Hi,

I picked up an untested MS-6719 (OEM Medion - SIS 650 based) board with a Northwood 2.8ghz P4, it was cheap, I just needed a system with universal AGP for card testing.

Symptoms...

  • Power on spins the CPU fan, cannot power off
  • No display - no Post/Beep
  • CPU remains cold even after a few minutes
  • Same with or without RAM
  • Same with or without CPU
  • Tried 2 PSUs, same issue
  • Same behaviour with the P4 connector attached or not
  • Same with on-board or AGP graphics attached

As an experience question for you guys (appreciate it's a thumb in the air type post), is it more likely the CPU or the board that's a problem?
Thanks.

Most likely something in the power up sequence is dead.

Mosfet, driver, or a power good signal to tell it to turn on
