I think you got me wrong on some things.

1. The driver I am using is marked DX3, but it works with everything I tested up to DX7 (my demos require DX7).
2. The driver I am using is working with the DVD Player Software from ATI. There are several (two?) versions of the dvd-Player but I only managed to combine the driver and the dvd-player-software I use. Every other combination of driver and dvd-player throughs errors at me or hangs up the machine when starting the dvd-player software.
3. You may perhaps have run doomGL with openGL and the floor-textures and lights are rendered correctly but that is not the case in my driver-combination. I tested several OpenGL versions but they did not work for me and the issue remains the same. Keep in mind that the openGL version I am using has issues with DoomGL but works just fine for quake.
4. Of course CIF is working just fine with my driver.
5. Later Version of the ATI driver crash/hang up some direct-draw games. Like xenon2k. I had to use that old one in order to make it work.

Beside the DoomGL problems the only downside that I had noticed is that acdsee3 hangs-/lockups zee machine when displaying monochrome-stuff. I have to investigate this, or switch to another picture-viewer.

1.DX7 demos from this tool?
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=20544
https://www.pouet.net/prodlist.php?platform%5 … 1&order=thumbup

2.I know at least two 3.10 version of ATi Player, one with older engine, other newer. Then there is 3.2 and 6.2, but they all look the same.
There are older ATi DVD-s, like 1.20 and 1.27, i am missing only 1.27 version at the moment. Someone has ATi DVD Player 1.27 or 127?

5. Nice to test then with this game, thanks.

1. OldSkoolDemoMaker YES (keep in mind that the wobbling effects do not work on old ati/matrox. seems hardcoded to Nvidia
2. I use the old one

Perhaps there is a combination where everything works that I have not found. direct-draw is very important for me, more important than OpenGL on this machine and the later drivers have issues with direct-draw on my setup with PCI-RagePro, maybe the AGP Version is not effected on this.

My drivers are dx6 or dx6.1 ones, dxdiag directdraw works and xenon2000 game also works well, just played it 15-20 minutes.
I can check it with Rage Pro PCI 4MB if you want?Edit:Played 5 minutes with Rage Pro PCI and same as with AGP card, it works.

Used my latest 5.40 drivers for AGP and PCI Rage Pro

To be more correct, then Rage3 cards have 4 API support, not 3 API support for Win9x

1. DirectDraw 2D API hardware acceleration
2. Direct 3D is 3D API hardware acceleration
3. ATi-CIF API hardware acceleration
4. OpenGL API hardware acceleration

Evil Islands: Curse of the Lost Soul (from 2000/2001)
Never played this game, someone has and is it good?

https://www.metacritic.com/game/evil-islands- … -the-lost-soul/

More demanding game for RagePro,but it is supported,8MB 2xAGP please
I would try it @RageXL 8MB AGP (4xram-64bit) / RagePro cards 8MB AGP
Use faster CPUs, not minimal configuration @ 233 or 266MHz Celeron/P2

https://allods.gipat.ru/sites/evil-islands_.c … eng/faq_hw.html
https://allods.gipat.ru/sites/evil-islands_.c … g/settings.html

If ingame dithering settings does not work, try Rage2dev and Rage Pro Tweaker tools
ATi Rage128 / Rage128Pro is fully supported and runs well @ 32bit, best experience 😀

How is the expansion pack, its hard game to find

First comparison is with Turok1 vs at someones OC results
Main difference comes with driver, hes is using his latest.
Re: ATi RagePro supported games

Celeron 500MHz Mendocino (5x100MHz) OC
128MB RAM, 440ZX, Rage Pro
Turok1 640x480x16 27.0fps Rage Pro 8MB AGP
vs
Celeron 533MHz Mendocino (8x66MHz) Default
128MB RAM, 440EX, Rage Pro
640x480x16 42.7fps - ATi Rage PRO 8MB AGP

Turok1 with fog and everything ATiD3D default (Xpert@Play setting)
640x480x16 40.8fps - ATi RageLT PRO 8MB AGP - very long benchmark
640x480x16 42.7fps - ATi Rage PRO 8MB 2xAGP - very long benchmark
640x480x16 47.7fps - ATi Rage XL 8MB 2xAGP - very long benchmark

Rage LT Pro vs Rage Pro are bit different + faster Rage XL added.
Rage LT Pro 13,8fps more, 27 vs 40,8 at D3D with average fps, same resolution.
Rage Pro 15.7fps more, 27 vs 42,7 at D3D RagePro vs Rage Pro, same resolution.
Rage XL 20,7fps more, 27 vs 47,7 at D3D RagePro vs RageXL, same resolution.

Did not think that Rage LT Pro is slower than Rage Pro or my Rage LT Pro has slower clocks,
all settings are the same, just three different Rage3 cards. Still RageXL is the fastest Rage3.

I am not sure if they are really the same (RagePro vs. RageLtPro) because the RageLtPro fails in amithlon while RagePro seems to be fine in VESA.

I add Rage Pro result soon - soon, i think they are the same for Turok1 or similar.

edit
It was faster, Rage LT Pro was 40,8fps - Rage Pro got 42.7fps.
Maybe clocks are different, but Rage XL still faster.

27fps result is taken from here:Rage Pro 4MB+4MB AGP
https://www.clous.cz/ati-3d-rage-pro-agp-2x/

So difference is even bigger, Rage Pro vs Rage Pro
Turok1 27fps result is not my result,pc are similar
Run1: 27 vs 42.7, difference 15.7fps at average results.
Run2: 27 vs 43.1, difference 16.1fps at average results. 😀

Second run was faster 42.7 vs 43.1, i will not change first bencmarks results for any cards!

Same 540 driver, different results with fog,can it be system specific problem?
Now i have DX6 D3D with FOG, its Windows 95 and Directx8.0a-fresh install.
No need to downgrade D3D to DX5, DDRaw,CIF, OPENGL, DVD, all works now.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Now i did run 3D Mark99 Max at default 800x600 and no difference here.
RagePro = RageLTPro, ATiRageXL is winner
3D Mark99 Max 1321p - ATi RagePro 8MB AGP
(Rage LT Pro, same 3DMark score as Rage Pro)
3D Mark99 Max 1465p - ATi RageXL 8MB AGP

At first i did not give any attention to DDraw (DirectDraw 2D API hardware acceleration) and its games. DDraw games can also be here.
I have not played many 2D API games, but these are listed as DirectDraw ones+Rage3 cards have DirectDraw HW Acceleration @Win9x.
Up to 277 released games and add-on games for DirectDraw and Windows? There are no filter for Windows version, all is one Windows.

I played through Prophecy several times with my ATI Rage Pro 27 years ago, and it played surprisingly well. Performance seemed OK at the time, but I was also coming from a 486 DX2-66 and anything better than 20 FPS felt as smooth as butter. I should toss the Rage Pro back into my 440BX rig and test it out just for fun, after the other three projects that I have on the go get finished.

I have not played this game, by the video its a movie and game combination, so it was and is a good game if you played it several times? If you worry about performance and still want to use Rage Pro based card, use faster Rage XL AGP with 4 memory chips, not 1 memory chip and you should be fine i think. With good motherboard chipset, like your 440bx, its should be no problems with that game and the original Rage Pro.

Faster Pentium II or Pentium III cpu is good companion for Rage Pro, gets bit more out of Rage3 cards than slower end and more older cpus.

I had Celeron 300A at 450Mhz with Rage Pro 8MB AGP back then, good times. 😀
