I don`t know why this occurs with DosBox, it did not happen so often before but now it is going on every time I start DosBox, and before this happened mostly in windowed mode, now it happens even in the full-screen one! If I want to get rod of it I have to switch between the modes, and it`s quite annoying as some games are quite "sensitive" and they receive the "enter" command before DosBox switches the mode. I have DosBox 0.72 on Windows XP Sp3, it never happened in Ubuntu. I`ve seen this occur into another application that uses DirectX through SDL. Is there any solution to my problem?

check which programs run in the background. especially if they have a trayicon (those can change the palette suddenly and then dosbox is messed up) Notorious ones are dvd playback monitor programs.

Tested with no icons in the taskbar (other than the volume control one) still the green screen appears, and I don`t think that can be the cause, maybe a hardware and software fail? Or maybe the SDL library is smashed? Or DirectX is the problem? (tho I tried with multiple versions of it). I only know that the DosBox version that had the old logo did not have those problems.

But overlay works the best here. Is there any other solution?

I have all the drivers updated (well, not really for my video card, but I cannot upgrade, as the support in the newest drivers for my card is quite deplorable).
I cannot use a custom build unfortunately, because I use D-Fend Reloaded, not that I don`t know how to fiddle with DosBox`s settings, it is because I like to start my games at one click. If this problem was only for one game I would say yes, but this is different. Thank-you for your suggestion tho., I might try it one day, the build looks promising, and has Munt in it too 😁

What do you mean by "M$ Autorun"?

With DosBox 0.72 on Windows XP SP3 I had best results with output=ddraw regarding speed and picture quality. I always found overlay glitchy and opengl somewhat slow with some games.

Ah, I see. I prefer to use M$Config, without the need to download other programs.

You could try the sdl.dll from an older version of DOSBox.

Wouldn`t this make my current DosBox more incompatible, or decrease it`s speed?

Strangely I used to recall the direct draw render as slow. Now I`ve tested with some "heavy" games and it seems that it is about as fast as overlay is.
If it is less buggy I`m willing to switch to it 😀 . Thank-you for the suggestion.
