Hey guys, what was in the socket next to the CPU? Is it an unobtanium PAL chip or something replaceable?
The board apparently posts but it wasn't tested. (pictures are not mine, can't get better ones)

U43 is PAL needed for supporting both master and slave modes of VL-Bus device.
BTW. Your motherboard is probably newer 2.2 version of Shuttle HOT-409, and above manual is for older ver. 1.x but it looks pretty similiar, so I assume that the explanation will apply here.
