Hello,
Recently I got a laptop Motherboard from an Hp laptop that was dead.
The first thing I tried was to visually inspect all the components before checking for shorts. I found that the controller IC (PC97551) became suspiciously hot after some seconds, that I could barely touch it. The question is, should I try to replace it or is it possible that another component is responsible and that affects the controller IC, so replacing it wont fix anything.
I didnt find any other component to be too hot.
Thank you
