Merry Christmas!
I unearthed an old letter to Santa from 1999, when I was eight haha. Interests haven’t changed much.
I think I got Rogue Spear and a Linux cap that year.

Merry Retro Christmas
Merry A.I. slop Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you all. Retro tidings, easy games, pirated women.

Nice one.
A sci-fi super chill ❆ electronic ambient take on Silent Night.
I hope everyone's Christmas was merry!
Was a good day! Though, we're actually doing our dinner today (Dec 26) since I had to work 7AM-3PM on Christmas, but I'm off until Monday now. The joys of working in healthcare. 🤣
Wife and I got our daughter a Switch 2 and a few games she wanted, along with some other stuff she was asking for. She was thrilled. Wife wanted a lot of "nail art" things, so she got that and some t-shirts she wanted. She hooked me up with some awesome t-shirts as well, and quite a few tech related things I needed or wanted. Oh, and a the complete original GI Joe cartoon series! I'm collecting all the shows and toons I watched growing up in the 80's.
Got some soldering supplies I was running low on and a new hot air gun for the few times I actually need one.
A camera for my Flashforge AD5X 3D printer. Now I can take down my rigged USB camera setup.
An in-circuit component tester I was wanting to try out. So far, it seems pretty accurate. Enough to more quickly and easily narrow down a possible passive component failure without have to take it off a board. We'll see as I get to use it more.
Got a new Nest Smart SDR dongle and antenna set. I've got an RTL-SDR already, been using it a couple years, but I wanted this one specifically to try and pull down some weather sat images. 😀
I also got some ESP32 dev boards, commonly referred to as the "cheap yellow board". I've got one that's a fancy desk clock Bitcoin lottery miner. I wanted a couple more to play with. Not sure what I'm going to do yet. Maybe more lotto miners, maybe I'll set one up to control something or display info (like a weather station). There's a neat emulation project out there I may look into. Either way, these CYB's are fun to play with.
Did you all get anything, or treat yourself, to anything you needed or wanted? 😀

Nice haul. Unfortunately I mostly came away with the usual "dad" gifts; i.e. socks, shorts, aftershaves etc. No hobby stuff for me 🙁
The only exception was my parents asked me what I wanted a couple of months ago and I got the 24mm Canon macro lens I had wanted for the past year.
Other than that, I'll be mostly munching my way through chocolate over the next week or so.
I'll have to satisfy my own hobby wants via my own funds...

Just realized this is all A.I. generated Christmas music. How dystopically charming. I was wondering why it all sounded slightly familiar, but not quite. ;-)

Oh, I got some dad gifts as well, those are often my favorites because I don't know what they are. I get new t-shirts every year, and this year my wife got me several different types of summer sausages to try. Can't wait to dig into those! I'm not big on sweets. 🤣
This is the one time of year my wife gets me hobby stuff, other than that, I'm on my own. I often sell off stuff I don't need to buy other things I do. Doing it that way helps keep the "clutter" down and forces me to not hoard so much old tech, something I'm very guilty of doing.
We exchange lists with each other so we both get things we want/need, then mix in a few other random unknowns. It works out well. After 27 years, we've decided this is the best method for gifts on birthdays and Christmas. 😜

I bought myself a 486 motherboard, my wife bought herself a dress. We were both happy with the result 😁
Life? Don't talk to me about life.

A.I. generated art in the first video. The 1940s-2020s video is pure A.I. slop, too. I thought the old computer guys on vogons wouldn't get fooled by this stuff. Oh well.

The visuals didn't fool me, but I didn't realize A.I. text-to-music had become so advanced. Played around with Suno today and was enlightened to say the least.
How about a collection of good old "AI free" retro PC Christmas goodness! 😜

I'd better stop drinking "cold medicine" before I post parodies to compensate for the AI music.
All I got was food (mostly chocolate and caramel).
