Hi

I'm restoring a a Gateway 2000 486 system from around 1994/1995. Having looked at loads of their ads and a few reviews from the time I cannot find out exactly which sound card they used. They talk about a SoundBalster compatible card in the ads but don't specifiy which one , and most reviews I've read about the system seem to gloss over the sound card/media side of things.

Anyone have any idea what exactly they were using at that time in 486 systems?

Thanks

Not absolutely definitive, but maybe check here for driver filedates... https://web.archive.org/web/20010615050520/ht … und/index.shtml

Great idea. Looks like Aztec or Media Vision are the ones from around that time...

Thanks

The early 96 restore disc did have Soundscape drivers and ViBRA16 PNP drivers for what it's worth

Interesting. I have a restore CD on order so may take a look at that when it arrives.
