I recently snagged one of these from a Goodwill auction and since there is relatively little about these machines on the internet (a few posts here) I thought I would start a thread.

Dual socket 7, 8x SIMM slots, Adaptec 7850, Vibra 16, onboard ethernet and Matrox graphics (with WRAM expansion connectors!). 2x ISA, 2x PCI, 1x ISA/PCI. Most interesting is the integrated floppy/PCMCIA reader.
The system is compact, and quiet. Relatively limited expansion, but with everything on board, you don't need many slots.

I've already upgrade the memory with 4x32mb parity simms. A second 166mhz and heatsink is en route. I believe the Adaptec 7850 only supports 10MB/s SCSI so I may put a 2940UW in there eventually. I'd love to find a cheap 2mb WRAM expansion module, but they are pricey on Ebay.

Anyone have the manual or BIOS image?

Neat little ssystem 😀 ...far as I can tell from the archive of the old Intergraph BBS mirror ( https://web.archive.org/web/19980109140033/ht … bs/ibbsfile.htm ) the listed BIOS for the TD-30 was v01.02.10.00 (filename tdxxflh.zip from October 96, but sadly missing).

No sign of a manual listed at the same source, but maybe try the old usergroup for other info... https://groups.google.com/g/comp.sys.intergraph

Yeah, I've spent time digging around on intergraph.com via Wayback machine and there is nothing there.
I can manage without a new bios/manual, but I always like to have those things 😀

Anyway, I got a second 166mhz so now I'm rocking dual processors and NT is incoming.

Nice looking system, I wonder what my SIV utility will report once you have NT installed, please will you try it?

I just generated below from the Menu->File->Save Local files I got on 05-Dec-2019 from another 430NX system so suspect it will do OK, but SIV may not manage to report it as Intergraph, I suspect that if you posted the save files from it I could adjust things so it did. The .DMI file should contain the BIOS ID and using this we may be able to find a later BIOS.

SIV32N should work OK on NT V4.00 RTM, but I can't test it as all my x32 systems have SP6 installed, I know it's OK with SP2 as this is what I have on my Power PC system.

Tiny nit-pick: those are socket 5s, not Socket 7.

The relevant difference is only one multiplier pin (BF0) so only choice between 1.5x and 2.0x multipliers. To go up to 3.0x would require a mod (and you'd need to be sure the VRM could handle the load)

Yes, I know, I don't have SIV save files from a Socket 7 430NX NT4 system and in terms of what SIV reports 430NX has way more of an impact than Socket 5/7 which is independent of the chipset.

We have trouble in paradise - the system has started throwing "Parity Error System Halted" messages immediately after the BIOS splash screen. I've tried multiple sets of memory (including the memory it came with), removing one CPU, cleaning the SIMM slots, looking for damage, reset BIOS, pull SCSI devices, all without success. I can get into the BIOS, reset defaults, etc, but it never lets me get further than parity error. I even swapped out the CPU (and realized it came with a 133 overclocked to 166) but no dice there either.

Any ideas?

Can you disable parity checking in the BIOS? Are you 100% sure the SIMMs support parity?

BTW, what are all the S-Specs of the CPUs you have?

Parity on 72 pin simms can be a bit tricky as there are two different types of parity SIMMs (as well as a wealth of non-parity ones). I'd second what red-ray said about trying to disable it in BIOS if possible

Man, that's such a cool system.

Dual Socket5 Pentiums, onboard Matrox Millennium graphics and Vibra16 audio with a real OPL3? For retro gaming it is a weird combination, but should be quite fast at anything you use it for if you don't push it too far past 1995. 😀
