To start off, I have two of these mainboards (ASUS VL/i-486sv2gx4 2.0).
One mainboard has an older BIOS Version (#401A0-0305 - 01/11/95).
The other mainboard has the latest BIOS Version is (#401A0-0402-1 - 11/03/95).
A bit of background on my situation.
AWARD BIOS...
The 0305 version is unable to see the proper HDD size in FDISK maxing all drives to 504MB. The BIOS reports the proper size "NORMAL" (not LBA) Drive parameters.
On my 0402-1 version, it does see the proper HDD size in FDISK as well as BIOS is reporting the proper size "LBA" Drive parameters.
I believe I need to update this BIOS Version IOT have proper drive installation.
So, I want to flash the older BIOS to the latest, from 0305 to 0402-1.
I read in another post VL/i-486sv2gx4 Bios flash problem that it has to be done via an EPROM programmer on a blank 27C512 chip.
I had hoped I could use AFLASH.exe to just flash it but I do not want to chance it, based on the previous post.
Using an EPROM Programmer is beyond my capabilities. Not to mention I haven't a clue what type or where to purchase.
In the previous post, someone was able to help flash a chip for the poster and mail it out.
Any chance someone here can be kind enough to help out in a similar fashion?
I'd really appreciate any help.
Thnx in advance.
