That score looks low for that setup, did you try with 128mb ram?
Did you try it without the usb card?

I do not have 128mb.
Will try without the Opti usb card but I read that 2.0 cards give problems not 1.1
I am less than 700 points from 5k with a geforce2.
Probably I would hit 5k with a geforce3
But do this will make a real difference in real world?
Probably not.
I get 5k on my ASUS p5a with k6-3+ 400@616mhz with a stock GF2 Ti. 7.76 drivers and a LOT of tweaks. I few months ago i swapped the gf2 ti for a GF3 Ti500. It uses the same driver. Result = I lost 400 points.
It didnt matter what I tried still got lower points with the gf3 Ti500. So my conclusion from my testing is that a gf2 ti is a better choice on a P5A board.

Did you remember any of the tweaks for your Ali board?

You can see my wprecit tweaks on page 27 of this thread.
I am using a bunch of tools on my ali board. CTU and a lot of others. I will come back with a complete list. I am at the moment in the middle of a move from my old house to my new house

Not sure I can see anything related to wpcredit there.
Anyway, I am trying to overclock the chip.
It can boot and past the bios at 690mhz, 125Mhz x 5.5 at 2.2v.
From my experience 5.5 is the sweet spot for memory speed, 6 is bad.
Problem is that the ide channels become super unstable giving me read/write errors, with consequent corruption of the OS.
Any way to stabilize them?
I have a sata pci card that had no problem in working at 66Mhz so I can use it, but would it slow down everything else?
Guess I can only try.

You will find the wpcredit settings in the second post on page 27. On the picture you will see a tool WPCRSET. This tool is used to make the system autoload the WPCREDIT tweaks on startup. I use wpcredit to test and find the optimum settings, then I use WPCRSET to load the settings on startup. You can copy my settings from the picture and get a nice boost.

Yes I saw this but there is no description of what it is changing.
I am not comfortable in changing those parameters without a clue on what I am doing.
That is why I am searching for PCR files at least, I need some context.

Do you need PCR files? A Geforce 2 is fast, sometimes faster than GF3 on SS7. For newer games a newer card is better.
Need for speed most wanted, Call of duty, battlefield etc works better with a newer card.
And of course if your 3dmark score goes up your game speed will go up.
Here some improvement.
115mhz x 5.5 cache enabled, Gart2
Without usb opti card and with the Promise SATA controller.
Again, no wpcredit optimisations, I appreciate any PCR file for ali5
I think also the cpu cooler I am using is not that good, but the ga5-ax won’t give me much clearance for a S370 cooler I have.
Another attempt at 120 x 5.5, cache enabled.
It is strange, with or without cache the cpu won’t boot at 130Mhz even lowering the multiplier.
125x5.5 allowed me to boot into windows and bench CpuZ, but 3dMark2000 hangs at second test. Too bad.
Are you using CTU tweak?
Skalabala wrote on 2026-01-26, 11:02:Are you using CTU tweak?
Yes I am.
Will try to find a 128mb stick somewhere, I should have it but not sure it works.
Meanwhile, I am still looking for PCR files, the one I have gives me message "invalid vendor" as they are for P5A.
I am a bit nervous about that.

Every board I used says invalid vendor 😀 Never had a problem.
My results at stock fsb speeds.
System specs:
AMD K6-2+ 570Mhz (95x6) modded to K6-III+ 600Mhz (100x6)
Gigabyte GA5-AX Rev4.1 512kb L3.
128MB PC100 CL2 dual sided
Geforce3 Ti500 7.76 driver
Voodoo2 SLI 12MB
SB32 2x16Meg 28Meg effectively
3dmark 99 and 2000 results on the Ti500
CTU configurated for best performance and also used Tweakbios for better memory timings since the F4 bios only allows for simple CL2 and CL3 settings.
Builds:
Xp3000+ radeon 9600XT + vd2 SLI 12MB + 512MB + SB live @ WinXP & 98 Dualboot.
AMD K6-3+ 600Mhz+ Geforce 3 Ti 500 + 3Dfx Voodoo 2 12MB SLI + Sound Blaster 32 + 128MB SDR @ msdos / win98.
More detailed 3DM 2000.
Now run with all the benchmarks.
