I've not published this yet, but I can make it available on my site if anyone wants...
If you've read this thread you'll know that I designned DDLINK to be a super-simple and easy way to transfer files between DOS systems without a traditional network. It also works well to transfer between "modern" systems and DOS - or even two modern systems in cases where you don't want to use a network.
But... being a DOS program, DDLINK.COM doesn't run on Win64 ... The simple way to work around this is to run it under a network enabled edition of DosBox.
If you have DosBox installed and working on your network, this is easy. But I've helped out enough people who want to transfer files to/from DOS systems who don't use DosBox or are familier with the intracasies of installing and configuring it to work, that I've created:
DDLBOX - a minimal DosBox which is already set up for and has the components needed to do DDLINK transfers. It's main "features" are:
- Based on an older/simpler/smaller edition of DosBox - minimal "footprint".
- Does NOT have to be installed (just go to it and run)
- Minimal setup - it offers a resonably comprehensive DosBox config menu, but most will only want to pick a location (or two) on the host system where files can be transferred.
- Fairly simple main menu to select DDLINK over LAN (or COMn) as a server or client, View docs etc. This basically opens and closes like any other native host application and you don't have to "think" about DosBox.
