I've got an old HP LaserJet 1100 that isn't working. All control panel lights are on, indicating a fatal error (according to the manual). Wondering if anyone knows how to fix? Perhaps there's a ROM dump out there I could attempt to re-flash?
Since this is a decades old printer, with plenty of moving parts, at least one motor and multiple consumable components inside, the chances of the issue being mechanical in nature are rather high.
Unfortunately, I cannot provide printer diagnostic or repair guidance due to my lack of knowledge in the field. Maybe someone else here can.
What I can suggest, is to try to source a copy of the service manual for that printer and see if that opens up same potential avenues. Please by careful as there are high voltage components in a laser printer as well as, most likely, accumulated old toner residue, which is often (always?) toxic to inhale and can make a mess.
