Good morning, just a couple of questions on this motherboard , if anyone is familiar with it.

I got this board as spares/repairs, just needed a CPU re-seat, boots up with 512Mb of 133 memory (one stick of 512) with a Coppermine 733 (133 FSB), all seems to be fine, i like the board and it's nice and clean as well. It has no ISA slot, but I'm happy to run a PCI sound card with it, so all good.

The board is 100% all Rubycon caps, so I am pleased with this, but does anyone know if Acer recalled and had these motherboards recapped during the cap plague? I can't see any burnt traces and looks to be a very high-end professional job. I have checked the retro web for this board, and unles my eyes are bad, looks to be green caps, probably some junk like Tayeh or CHHSI caps, so unsure if this came from the factory like this with some sort of revision.

Like my BH6 motherboard, my MX440 PCI does not boot, I get a few beeps, BIOS is set to PCI, AGP GPUs work fine, is this to be expeced with this board or could there be an issue with the PCI slots?

On the back of the board on the PSU joints there is a resisor soldered from the PSU connector to the first RAM slot, is this common in some boards, was it done for any specific reason?

Thanks

Hi, mine is the same... So far I'm not having any problems with graphics cards, except when the cards themselves have them. I noticed that under Win98, AGP 4x only activates if you install VIA 4 in 1 4.35 or lower.

They're Sanyo caps, just as good as the Rubycons on your board. Also IIRC mine didn't have the resistor on the bottom.

One thing that comes to mind about the PCI 440 is incompatibility with some chipsets, as in incompatibility with the PCI version on them. Have you tried the card on a more recent board? Like something with i815 onwards.
