I'm running a new computer with Vista 64, and I have the latest edition of DOSBox. I've been using it to play the Quest for Glory anthology games, and while I haven't been able to install any of the games using Sierra's utilities (I think because Sierra doesn't like my 64-bit computer), I have been able to simply copy/paste the game folders onto my hard drive and run them through DOSBox that way. This has worked all the way to QFG4, but now when I try to copy/paste the QG4CD folder all I get are a few install files and an install program that gives me that same "cannot work in 64-bit" message, and when I try to run the install program in DOSBox I get this:

Anyone know how to solve this problem?

You might find this page helpful:

There is an installer for the Quest for Glory IV CD for DOSBox on this page (I don't know if the Anthology CD would change anything here). There's also advice there for Vista users saying not to install the game in the "Program Files" folder.

I'm sure others will come along who know much more about this than i do. 😀

I downloaded that installer and when I double click on the "Run Quest for Glory on DOSBox" icon I get nothing but a standard DOSBox screen.

OK, I followed those instructions and it worked for the initial menu and the character import/creation. As soon as I started the game, however, I got a black screen followed by a crash--the music froze and a large, yellow version of the DOSBox prompt (probably in the resolution and the color scheme of the game) appeared over the screen (I couldn't get a screenshot). I guess this is a crash to desktop--any thoughts?

Nope, I started with an empty folder.

SCRATCH THAT!

Tried re-installing it and doing the same thing and this time it's working. Hooray! Now if only I could get Quest for Glory V to work in Vista x64 I'd be golden!
