According to Tiido (who knows their stuff), putting JP1 and JP2 in the 2-3 position disables the onboard amp.

Well, I moved both down one, but it hasn't helped, sadly. 🙁

This is not a preamp related issue as you can get suitable volume using the master volume but you can't suitably control the SFX volume, I would say it's a mixer bug. It's probably this issue;

If it is a mixer bug, I can't say I'm noticing any difference with the advice in that thread. 🙁 I've put SB Vol to 1 and everything else is at 5 except CD, which is at 7. Master is at 15. CD music is still too quiet. 🙁

Even put every volume to 0 and just had SB set to 1, CD to 7, and Master at 15. Same issue. No change at all.

Stumbled on this thread last night - Yamaha YMF71x SB Pro Mixer Bug Issue Fix - and tried Joseph_Joestar's setup. Before that, I completely uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it. I'm not sure if I was using a different version of that DOS driver/utility, but I made sure to use the one installed by the Windows driver. I set up the volumes the same as Joseph and I would say the volume of the CD music has improved a bit. It's still not how I remember it being though. When I was using my test build back in... 2024...? I don't recall any issue with the volume of redbook music in DOS. Not for Tomb Raider, Quake, or LBA. So it's baffling what's actually going on here. Same with SetYMF and Unisound - there was never a problem. Now the issue happens regardless of what tool I use.
