Update: The way I got Windows 10 22H2 working on my ASUS P6T SE X58 system was to have VT-D Disabled in the BIOS
I just tried to Install Windows 10 22H2 on one of my X58 systems and when I booted the install flash drive it "got stuck". After a while I found a USB stick with Build 10240 TH1 on it and that did install OK.
At the moment it wants to update the system to 20H1, I wonder will all still be OK if I let it? I then remembered I used to run W10 Insider Build on my 980X, stopped when W10 stopped working and can't remember which build # that was.
What is the latest build that works well on X58? I will update as below as information becomes available
- W10 Build 10240 TH1 - Installs and runs with no issues.
- W10 Build 10586 TH2 -
- W10 Build 14393 RS1 -
- W10 Build 15063 RS2 - I managed to boot the installation media, but none of my keys worked.
- W10 Build 16299 RS3 -
- W10 Build 17134 RS4 -
- W10 Build 17763 RS5 -
- W10 Build 18362 19H1 - Booted to a menu that offered x64 or x32, when I selected x64 it then got stuck.
- W10 Build 18363 19H2 -
- W10 Build 19041 20H1 - Gets stuck when trying to boot from ESD-USB drive
- W10 Build 19042 20H2 -
- W10 Build 19043 21H1 -
- W10 Build 19044 21H2 -
- W10 Build 19045 22H2 - Gets stuck when trying to boot from ESD-USB drive with VT-D Enabled and works with VT-D Disabled in the BIOS, I don't know when this changed, post RS2 I think
The system also has WNT-x32 ES V4.00 SP6a + WXP-x64 SP2 installations and I intend to install W98SE on it after all the issues I have on my Supermicro X7SBL.
I intend to install with setup /p i, I also plan to install with just 1GB of memory installed, once W98SE is installed and patched I will put it back to 12GB.
Once installed with 1GB intend to use patcher9x-0.9.91-win32 from a WXP-x64 command window, but don't know the best command lines options to use. What command line options should I use and why please?
