Good afternoon all. I got bored one day and decided I'd try and build the Duke Nukem 3D DOS source code. I was feeling bold after building DOOM from source and getting that running on my Linux machine, but that's not really a huge feat considering there's a whole blog post walking you through building it.
I got through it pretty easily. The hardest point up to running it was finding an original copy of Watcom 11.0c since that was the WATCOM C/C++ version that was confirmed to build with it. I just used the IDE to build it and I managed to... acquire a copy of Duke Nukem 3D Megaton Edition to have the necessary files to run it. I then ran it in DOSBox-X with the default duke3d.cfg file. Everything went well: compiled the .COM files, chose a config file to go off of. Then it checks sound and music inits and says that Sound Blaster is not responding on the selected port. I then went into the duke3d.cfg and made the Sound FX and Music Midi use the 1 option instead of the 3 and 4 option which should force it to use just a general sound output and do nothing special. When I did that and ran the executable, it said that my Invalid FX source. When I se them to 3 and 4, I get the error: couldn't find selected sound card, or, error with sound card itself. Is this a problem with DOSBox-X or the program?
