Hey friends, I've been tinkering with both emulators almost all the weekend and was wondering if these results are normal.

My PC can run an emulated PII 450 at 100% speed on PCemv17 in Windows 98SE and most games (for some, more demanding games I tweak the speed to 350 or 300 if needed to maintain 100% speed).
I had to pin the PCem threads away from the i7 E-Cores to achieve this, but after that is smooth sailing. Very happy with the results.

However I can't achieve even close to that in 86Box, the best I can do are Pentium MMX 200-233, maybe PII at 233-266 but that's almost entering choppy territory. I understand 86Box is more focused on accuracy and less reliant on "hacks" than PCem, and accuracy comes at a cost, of course. But can the difference be really this much? Normally I take YouTube videos with a grain of salt, but I saw some (particularly Phil's videos) running much better than I with similar configurations. Oh, and I tried all versions available of 86Box, stable, dev old and new recompiler, pinned the threads off the E-Cores, didn't seem to make a difference.

This thread is not to throw shade on either project, I'm very supportive of both. Mostly I was looking to clear this since I'm a bit confused.

Thanks in advance, sorry if this has been asked a million times.

Z.

It would be better to ask the devs of 86box on their github site instead of on a forum which may or may not be visited by them.

I'm sorry, you're absolutely right. I'm already in talks with the devs over their channels.
