I'm not even going to try to order them:

Excalibur
Legend
The Skeleton Key
Aliens
Boogie Nights
Conan the Barbarian
Napoleon Dynamite
Almost Famous
Reservoir Dogs
The Thing (1982)

I reserve the right to change this when I remember ones I forgot I liked better.

That's a hell of a question. I'm going to limit it to the last 20 years, else it would be too hard.

In no particular order:

Oculus
Dredd
Hereditary
No Country For Old Men
Sunshine
Blade Runner 2049
Lawless
The Witch
Watchmen
Joker

Is this too much voodoo?

For me, it would be something like this:

  • Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
  • Back to the Future
  • Terminator 2
  • Rambo: First Blood
  • Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
  • Gladiator
  • The Matrix
  • Spider-Man 2
  • Iron Man
  • Star Trek: First Contact

Regarding the trilogy movies, I picked just one, though you could slot in all three there as well.

PC#1: Pentium MMX 166 / Soyo SY-5BT / S3 Trio64V+ / Voodoo1 / YMF719 / AWE64 Gold / SC-155
PC#2: AthlonXP 2100+ / ECS K7VTA3 / Voodoo3 / Audigy2 / Vortex2
PC#3: Core 2 Duo E8600 / Foxconn P35AX-S / X800 / Audigy2 ZS
PC#4: i5-3570K / MSI Z77A-G43 / GTX 980Ti / X-Fi Titanium

Hi, in no particular order (sci-fi)..
1. Flight of the Navigator
2. DARYL
3. Langoliers
4. Explorers
5. 2010
6. Silent Running
7. Brainstorm
8. WarGames
9. The Net
10. Hackers

These just came to mind. There are quite some more classics, though.
Such as the spoof movies like Airplane! Or The Fog. Or Gremlins 2, Critters 4.
They're not exactly the geeky or sci-fi kind of film, though. I don't even know where to put Short Circuit, either. ;)

Princess mononoko
The Fly
Grease (yeah I know cheesy but classic)
Earth girls are easy
The shining
Star Wars series (grouped them for convenience)
M.A.S.H.

Nice to see "The Beyond" being mentioned! It's not in my top 10, but close: awesome OST, awesome ending.

I think I'd answer different on different days, and depending what I had watched too often lately. Would probably be something of a mashup between Ovenchips and TheIpex's lists.

Throw in Mystery Men, The Goonies, Ferris Buellers Day Off, The Italian Job for the mentions..

and guilty pleasures, Bond films, Indiana Jones, Cannonball I, II, Gumball Rally, Smokey and the Bandit.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.
