ASUS P5KPL-AM EPU for the motherboard.
CPU is the Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3GHz
2GB of DDR2 RAM
Sound Blaster Audigy for the soundcard
120GB SSD for storage
USBODE for loading up bin/cue format games in order to get Redbook audio through the Audigy line-in port
Windows 98SE installed through Win98QuickInstaller
Game controller is either the Logitech RumblePad 2, Sidewinder Plug and Play USB Gamepad, or a Sidewinder Freestyle Pro. It depends on what game I'm playing.

The case is a Thermaltake Core V21, it seems huge but being able to remove the left, right, and top panels? Game changer, it makes a build dead simple to accomplish. Wanna put a new expansion card?
Remove the top panel and its as simple as dropping the new card in.

A solid tips for everyone out there, image your OS drive with Clonezilla once everything is installed and stable! It saved my life this morning after I installed a bad network driver.

I do like a good time machine build. I had the smaller Thermaltake V1 a few years back and it was also a pleasure to work with. Nice work!

Heh. Thanks! Now I'm just looking for a better cooler, and oh boy are LGA775 coolers hard to find nowadays.

Stock heatsink and sitting at 42C on the desktop doing nothing at all? Yeah, I want a better cooler for this build.

Fair enough, if you happen to have any Noctua coolers lying around you can request a 775 mounting kit from Noctua free of charge.

I've done this a few times for various older sockets.

You don't even need an invoice, so theoretically you could buy a used Noctua cooler on the cheap and request the mounting kit. Postage is slow though.

Okay! Few updates to the build!

Nothing's changed except for making a DIY 3.5mm to CD_IN cable to hook the USBODE straight to the soundcard internally.
I've also added a Pi 4B I had laying around as a MT32-Pi, RS232 for now. I do want to build a PC Gameport Party board to get MIDI in, to allow the use of the Roland USB to MIDI cable.
