I cant seem to get the game to work.

It seems to install fine, then i mount the drive and bring up the directory, and when i try to launch it by typing war.exe it get an error message:

Unable to find warcraft data file 'data\data.war' in any of the following directories:
c:
d:\warcraft

The file 'path.war' contains the path to your cd-rom drive and may need to be modified if your cd-rom drive has been reconfigured.

This is my first time using dosbox so i know i must be doing something wrong.

Thanks ahead of time!

Read my 60 Seconds Guide to DOSBox (and don't just read it - follow it too).

If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc.

I am sure the nice people you bought the full version from are eager to help a paying customer.

Hi! I'm from Canada but I speak French so I hope you will understand me as well..

Yesterday, when I was at my boyfriend's house, I downloaded Warcraft 1 and I did install the full version so I didn't need CD.. I downloaded DosBox 0.72 too. Everything, or almost, was working well on his PC. I say almost because the music wasn't working and I didn't still understand why so if you just could tell me why.. or if you already had the same problem as me..

But the real point is as follows... When I came back home.. I did the same thing. Downloaded DosBox version 0.72 and downloaded the same torrent of Warcraft 1. BUT.. It didn't work out. Why?! I mean.. Why on his PC and not on mine? 🤣..
I clicked on War.exe.. but the screen stayed black. Hmmm. I just don't understand.. really.

If someone could help me.. it would be nice!
Thanks!

We don't support downloaded illegal copies here, sorry. Go buy an original.

We have a policy of not supporting unlicensed software here at VOGONS.

I suggests you ask the kind folks at that Turrent site where you downloaded the game for help on this matter.

And I regrettably also have to close the thread. Illegal downloads are often full of weird bugs due to errors in the re-packaging process. It is difficult enough to debug real DOSBox error without having to combat errors in the games itself.

If you can find a legitimate download (e.g. a demo) that exhibit the same problem, please come back, post a link to the demo, and we will do our best to help you.

Thread closed.
