It's difficult to narrow it down to 10. In no particular order:

The Lord of the Rings (2001-2003) To me it's one package. I won't have it take up 3 slots on a 10 entry list.
Sin City (2005)
A Clcokwork Orange (1971)
Stalker (1979)
The Witness (1969)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
Blade Runner (1982)
Taxi Driver (1976)
The Road (2009)
The Terminator (1984)

10 Honorable mentions

Mad Max - The Road Warrior (1982)
The Exorcist (1973)
The Matrix (1999)
Hair (1979)
Planet of the Apes (1968)
Planet Terror (2007)
Highlander (1986)
Jurassic Park (1993)
The Mummy (1999)
Chinatown (1979)

The Whole Nine Yards (2000)
Get Shorty (1995)
What Lies Beneath (2000)
Sliver (1993)
The Butterfly Effect (2004)
I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)
Cruel Intentions (1999)
Identity (2003)
Triangle (2009)
Stand by Me (1986)

You're not allowed to submit 2 lists, haha, that would be too easy.

Is this too much voodoo?

Limiting it to just 10 is difficult... but if pushed:

Aliens
The Abyss
The Hunt for Red October
Conan the Barbarian
Bladerunner
The Lord of the Rings (all three of the trilogy - that's a cop out and I readily admit it!)
Terminator 2
The Thing
Gremlins
Tron

For me, it's very logical - all three are just parts of a single story, it doesn't make sense to watch only one or two.

Similarly, I would include at least two first Terminator films as one entry - you must see the first one to fully understand the second!
Though in this case, I don't care about the later installments...

I'll also admit that I have a real soft spot for Flash Gordon (1980).

It's not a great film by any metric, but really doesn't take itself seriously, has a stellar cast and is pure pulp fun. Of course the soundtrack by Queen helps out... "Flash!!! Ahhhhhh... He'll save every one of us!"

Flash Gordon is a great movie. It's actually hard to make entertaining cheese. (see e.g. most of Roger Corman's output)

Plus BRIAN BLESSED.

Hi, in no particular order (sci-fi)..
1. Flight of the Navigator
2. DARYL
3. Langoliers
4. Explorers
5. 2010
6. Silent Running
7. Brainstorm
8. WarGames

i liked langoliers too, the miniseries plane thing right? it was fun, interesting and enjoyable.

silent running was a fave, i haven't seen that for so long

wargames is one of those films that i have continued to like, even though it is of course dated now

if i had a consistent top 10 wargames might be in it, others would be all kinds of films taken from a list of around 100 or so that i really like

Thanks, I agree. I also think it isn't easy to narrow things down! 😅
I was thinking of adding Evolver, Sneakers, Demon Seed or World on a Wire (13th floor predecessor)..

Langoliers.. Yes, that one. I have it on VHS and DVD (the BD isn't available where I live). 😃

WarGames is an all-time favorite of mine, same goes for Silent Running. ^^
The latter is a bit sad and hopeful same time. Comparable to The Black Hole.
You have a large spaceship, Lost in Space.

Flash Gordon.. It's one of those films so bad unique and off-scale that it's really good again! 😉
Reminds me of Barbarella somehow.. But in a positive way! 😀

That's a hard ask. Going to take me a bit to narrow down just 10. 😜

Most of my favorite films are from the 80's. If I had to guess just 10, as of right now as I'm thinking about it, in no particular order... and I'll be counting a a couple trilogies as a single movie.

Back to the Future Trilogy
Indiana Jones Trilogy
War Games
Ghostbusters
Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure
The Last Starfighter
Field of Dreams
Blade Runner
Neverending Story
Real Genius

Yeah... I edited this list about a dozen times. 🤣

I like his bit in Gillam's The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.
