Hey guys,

I got myself a copy of Doom 95 and installed it. All is great except the mouse usage. I know some of you played it with just keyboard back then but I started my PC journey with Quake 2 originally so I’m more used to WASD + mouse controls.

Anyway, I got the mouse driver - DMOUSE.VXD this made mouse working. BUT annoying Y axis moves back and forth! Super annoying when my character stands on a small platform. I’m aware of novert.com utility, but I think this is more for the DOS. I think I should start doing more DOS then…

Does anyone know the trick to disable it under Win?

Thanks

this should have an option to do it, however it will need probably need 2000/XP as it's meant to replace that .vxd. an interesting question would be whether kernelex could make this run under 9x...

in any case, doom95 was never the best, it has some other issues like lower sound pitch and different partial invisibility rendering. best to stick to vanilla or run MBF for limit removal, which also has the option for novert built in.

Quick update on this issue: the dmousexp worked in Ultimate Doom but doesn't work with II and Final Doom.

as mentioned in that thread, use a single doom95 installation with all IWADs in its folder, and use the doom95 launcher to swap between them.

Sorry, what do yo mean by swap? When I lunch ether episodes (desktop shortcuts for each), I first meet window that sets tones of parameters. Do I just swap WAD files?

read page 3 of the doomworld thread carefully, people have encountered your issue and it's described there how to avoid it.

Another update: Simple WAD files copy to Ultimate Doom folder allowed to disable Y axis in other Doom's chapters! I just need to use launcher to start II and etc.
