I used the zip from the first post, and it did install the WDM.
My card has the same ship CT5880-DCQ.
I didn't know nusb can have this side effect ! I probably use version 36e.

IIRC, it only happens with later versions, such as NUSB 3.6 that you're using. Basically, that will turn your OS into a sort of Frankenstein build, somewhere in between Win98SE and WinME. See this thread for more details.

You can download the older NUSB 3.3 from Phil's website. It doesn't have this issue while still providing full USB flash stick support.

Is there a way to permanently disable the 'spatial' 3D audio switch in Windows 98? It keeps coming back on after a reboot and like user Joseph Joestar stated in the OP it makes Windows audio sound pretty bad.

An amusing side note: I installed the drivers provided by this disc image and the included Windows help file is in Dutch. Very helpful for me who speaks or understands 0 Dutch.

I've had the very same problem recently with my latest Win95D build. Try uninstalling the driver and then when you run the setup, install only the drivers without the SB sound mixer. Worked for me.

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately it didn't work for me even after I did a clean install of the drivers. The spatial filter still turns back on after reboot along with the reverb and chorus effects for MIDI.

I also tried the newer driver installed from sbpci128setupus_w9x.exe and same problem with that driver too.

I even tried scouring the registry and the numerous Creative .ini files for the setting but found nothing. I suspect it's embedded into the driver .dll as seems typical with Creative's PCI sound card drivers.
