Got the Audigy 2 (non ZS) Installation and Applications CD. Don't see it in the opening post so maybe could be of use for someone.

Anyone interested in an image? If so let me know in what format and where to store it.

This MAY be out not applicable here but I hope it is. I am trying to get Windows XP drivers for an ASRock Fatal1ty Champion motherboard. It is a Sound Core3D based chip, and every driver I've seem to come upon wants Win Vista or Beyond. Does anyone here know how I might go about getting it to work in Windows XP? Many thanks ahead of time 😀

- Try looking for drivers on the website of another brand (MSI, Gigabyte, or ASUS), that may have a similar motherboard with the same audio chip.
- Try looking for drivers for that specific audio chip (maybe it was implemented on a stand-alone sound card; or maybe the actual chip manufacturer has them)
- Try installing the Vista 32bit drivers, on XP. They can sometimes work.

Ive actually tried the Gigabyte drivers already. The installers generally tend not to work, but I have been able to get drivers to install through more manual .inf means. Thus far nothing seems to be completely working. There is some level of recognition, but there is a yellow exclamation, and XP states that it cannot load the driver, or the driver is not fully installed.

I have indeed been searching for a driver for that exact chip, or a motherboard with a similar enough chip. I have even found some that "claim" to be XP compliant, but none have been yet 🙁 I was hoping someone here had tried to get a Sound Core 3D or 3Di chip installed to WinXP already.

This may not answer to your particular question, but have you heard about the existence of such a driver for XP? I don't have experience with this card and XP, since my last card I used in XP was Audigy 2 ZS, I think. That, or the X-Fi, can't remember now.

I suggest you to install a previous generation card instead, or install it together with your current Sound Core 3D. X-Fi or Audigy 2 is great for XP. Just use this for XP and use the Core 3D card with Vista and above, if you're dual booting. Provided, of course, you have a PCI slot free.

And also, I think that your question will get more exposure if you open a thread and copy and paste your issue in the sound hardware thread here in Vogons. Maybe others will be able to help you.
Because I believe people browse this thread just to look for the currently available drivers and not going to read the issues much.

@trumpetlicks
and also, if there aren't drivers available for XP... then, the best sounding PCI sound card that you can use for XP gaming, is the Creative X-Fi Elite Pro.
The X-Fi generation of cards (although not all of them) are also the last to have EAX in hardware.

@B24Fox, @Malik - The reason I am (at least) looking to get this chip working, is because I have 4x GTX 980 GPUs in the build with no room to add an external Sound card. This is the sound chip built onto the motherboard.

Nice!! 😳

In the worst case scenario, you'll probably need to spend a bit on ebay for an older external (USB) Sound Blaster, that has XP drivers... or... change the motherboard..
That's if you don't want to start getting intimate with driver modding...

I don't know what else to tell you.. Sorry 🙁

Yeah, I wondered about that. If I DID want to go external USB, do you have any suggestions?

I'm guessing this is a multi-boot system where you have a newer OS that can support 4x 980 cards in SLI at the same time? Nvidia only has support for SLI on the Nvidia side up to the 600 series.

Actually no, I have windows XP running perfectly on it with modded drivers for the GTX980's they work just fine. Quite a few vids and posts about 980's working within XP.

Hi,
Sorry to interrupt your discussion on quad SLI, but I'm looking for driver's CD iso-files for SB Live! X-Gamer CT4760 (it's Live! gen. 2 card).

I found a thread with info about suitable windows drivers, but some of the links to iso-files are dead:

- this link seems wrong and I can't find liveware3.0.zip with g00gl

8 ) Link to the full install CD, using the WDM driver model (Windows Millennium). Filename is Live! Install CD.7z. Source: Malik's Creative software thread, here.

- the link is dead

Can someone help me with finding the iso-files from the dead links in 1), 7) and 8 ) as I don't see these linked in this thread?

Thank you!

Thanks for your quick response.

According to the info in the thread I pointed, there is one older version CD with windows 9x VxD driver and another one - a newer version CD with only WDM driver. Do you know which version is this one from vogonsdrivers?

The CREATIVE SoundBlaster Extigy had some pretty good reviews back in 2002... And it could do at least EAX3 IIRC...
Also the X-Fi lineup had an external one, but I don't know anything about it.
There are most likely others... I wasn't too much into external audio, so I don't really know.

I tend to recommend CREATIVE, because of EAX, and good DirectSound3D drivers that play nice with DirectX5-to-9
Whatever you settle on, check out old reviews to make sure it doesn't behave weirdly in games.
