Hi, guys!
I know, that there are many people with knowledge about this type of hardware in this forum, so this is my first thread to ask for answers.
Recently I got bare Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi CT4760 sound card. I found user's manual in pdf-file on the i-net for this card, but the info I'm searching for is not there.
There is an undocumented JP3 jumper on the PCB (near the small yellow female S/PDIF jack) and I managed to trace this connections to it:
The S/PDIF jack is described as combined analog/digital jack in the manual, but by default it works only as digital S/PDIF connector:
There's info on this site, that there is a 5.1 speakers variant of SB Live! CT4760 card:
Several variants of CT4760 exist: Sound Blaster Live! X-Gamer, Sound Blaster Live! X-Gamer 5.1, Sound Blaster Live! Platinum and Sound Blaster Live! MP3+.
The X-Gamer 5.1 variant supports 5.1 surround sound via a combined analog / digital-out jack on the faceplate (yellow, at the very top). For analog purposes, the jack is used to provide the front centre and subwoofer channels. For digital purposes it's a compressed AC-3 S/PDIF output. The X-Gamer variant does not have this jack.
And my first question is: Will it be possible, that this JP3 jumper actually switches from S/PDIF to analog for Sub/Center in 5.1 speakers configuration?
The second question is about unpopulated JP2 jumper connected to 74F244 chip: If I move the R71 resistor to R82 missing resistor pads and solder the missing 3-pin jumper header, what this JP2 will possibly switch?
Thank you!
