Hey guys! Looking for some advice on what is the best video card to pair with my newly acquired Pentium 4 Extreme. Goal is to play 2000’s era games on Windows XP. Not worried about costs, want the best performance. Here are the current stats on the computer:

Pentium 4 Extreme 3.4ghz, socket 478
Intel D875PBX
HIS Ice-Q Radeon 4670 AGP
Sound Blaster card - need to figure out specifics
3 GB of Ram
Windows XP Pro SP2
OCZ 600W power supply
3x 80mm Antec Fans
500 GB SATA HDD
Antec Plus 1080 AMG case

Thank you for taking the time to help, looking forward to your suggestions!

Your Radeon 4670 is one of the fastest AGP cards, along with the Radeon 3850 and 7800GS when going GeForce. Not much to upgrade I think.

i386 16 ⇒ i486 DX4 100 ⇒ Pentium MMX 200 ⇒ Athlon Pluto 700 ⇒ AthlonXP 1700+ ⇒ Opteron 165 ⇒ Dual Opteron 856

Hope the 3GB is 2x1, 2x 512 to get you solid dual channel, and remember it uses the modern A0, A1, B0, B1 layout and not the older pairs together layout

Yes it sure is! Thank you for the reminder. I believe it’s Crucial Ballistiks 2x512 and Crucial 2x1

Looks decent GPU already. Quite a power hungry processor. Enjoy!

Performance: already good enough as is.
Compatibility: stick to GeForce 6800/7800 or Radeon X1950.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.
