Hello,
Civilization 1 ALWAYS crashes on Windows with an "Input signal out of bounds" error when I use either DOSBox or the DFend UtopiaBox and DBGL frontends, even with full screen unchecked. I have to manually enable it, and it's dead end.

The ONLY version that works is the one from the Abandonware website "for Windows."

The floppy disk version on the same site gives me the same error.
Using frontends would allow me to avoid typing 1 4 1 to choose sound and graphics cards, etc.

This fantastic game is a real piece of junk from a programming standpoint, even though it's 35 years old.

It uses special internal DOS launchers.

It uses scripts with nested subfolders.

It doesn't start directly with the .exe file.

And GOG doesn't sell a reprogrammed Civ 1, despite numerous requests. And Civ 1 is freeware.
Which version, if one exists, would allow the use of a front end?
GOG must be scared by this game.

Thanks a lot.
