I picked up this Socket 7 Pentium 1 last night from a guy near me for $30 bucks. These are the pictures from the listing.

Good looking case, great Asus mobo, AWE, ATi Xpression+ PC2TV (Rage2), ATi TV Wonder Pro. Thats a lot of high end/good brand parts, solid top range mid 1997 system. Someone paid top dollar for this back in the day.

Thanks! Ya the more I look into it the better of a deal it looks like. Its better than my current Pentium 1 , so I will likely replace the old one with this one. I wasnt sure what the TV tuner card was (other than an ATI card). It would be interesting for comparison sake to know what this computer would have cost in 1996 or 97. I had fun opening it up and installing the HDD and testing the computer out a bit last night.

Guys...look at this thing. It's one of the ugliest things I've ever seen. I love it. Almost tempted to buy it.

I wanted to say its ugly, but then I love the side light up tubes. I'd buy that and make it a killer system Is it a P4 or a core 2 duo?

For me it's the...interestingly shaped floppy drive plate, which is also beige. Does not match with the rest of it and throws it all off.

And the board is an ASRock G31M-GS. Could be a P4, C2D, or even C2Q. That's about 5-6 years too new for my taste.

Oh my gosh. It is so obnoxious and strange... I would buy it if it wasn't too expensive. 🤣

Yeah, that floppy looks so weird! Almost creepily "organic" next to all of that ~2008-era PC gaudiness. I don't know what it looks like in person, but it looks like it should have liquid with air bubbles flowing through those tubes. It probably doesn't, but that would be incredible...

Also, I would ask if they have any spare parts stashed away anywhere. It would look way better with all of the original drive bay covers.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

I've seen this shape before but this one looks flesh coloured which is a bit creepy. Is there liquid in the tubes , are they lighting up or is it just stickers?
Honestly this would make a great Xbox to Xbox 360 era gaming rig.

Thats a great point. Whenever I pick up a computer or hardware from someone I always ask if they have any other hardware or software lying around. Sometimes you get surprised.

Found it!

This one is an Enermax and has some slightly different colored panels but seems to be the same design.

https://www.allstarshop.com/shop/ENERMAX-CS-3 … 3A_14_5828.html

This Raidmax is also similar but has different buttons.

It isn't the same as this at all, but some of the styling reminds me of this Rosewill I case I used back in 2005 before I bought an Antec P180B.

*Squinting into the distance*

Is it a zip?
No!
Is it a floppy?
No!
It's SUPER disk...

Never thought this would happen. Sealed three packs of LS 120 Superdisks found at thrift. They had them marked a tad spendy for a thrift, but got all of them for under the $49.99 original price sticker on some of the packs. Though I could probably have found space in my floppy drawers for them, I grabbed a distinctive, doesn't match my "classic" floppy holders (Smoked top clamshell) case to give them their own home.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Not so easy find, congrats!

Just had this MSI MS-6339 delivered, have wanted to mess around with Socket 423 for a while. 256MB RDRAM and P4 1.7GHz included along with the HSF. Not bad for £50.

What will you *do* with something like that?

I mean, aside from self-educate on IBM's series 400 server and Netfinity product lines?

Ah, the rare 423 system that ISNT built around a DB850GB

I thought it was an Intel board at first glance, it does look very OEM.

It released very late in the year 2000, so my idea for this is to make a Christmas 2000 build. No parts made 2001 or later, so I'm gonna replace the P4 1.7GHz with a 1.4GHz. Yamaha YMF-752 sound already integrated and FDD/ODD/HDD covered. With all this mind, what video card would you guys put in here? I'm thinking something that wasn't very expensive back then, that's also not very expensive now lol. And you best believe Windows ME is going on there. 😎

Yah, I walked right past at first. Weird thing with all the LS120 stuff I've got, I missed it first go, then 3 or 4 steps later my subconscious goes "Hol' up frendo, something a bit different back there." and I turn round and take another look. These were half buried under some file folders, so pretty amazing I caught them at all.
