Ok so I happen to download the Shadow Warrior '95 - Ultimate Patch game that I got from ModDB where I was trying to run it on my DosBox 0.74-3. As I was trying to select through in the menu of the game, somehow it crashed on me with the message saying "Assertion failed: ptr != NULL". I wonder how do I resolve this one?

The error is discussed at the link below, unfortunately the person who originally compiled the beta version doesn't know what causes it on various hardware and emulators, and never fixed it. It was supposed to work in DOSBox but maybe affected by the version. At the time of the below discussion 0.74 was the latest version which is likely what people were using.

Man I was really hoping to check out this game with DosBox. You don't think any other version of DosBox might work with it?

Yes as mentioned 0.74 would have been the version they were using at the time, not 0.74-3

I tried using the 0.74 that you mentioned and unfortunately did not work for me. Maybe I can ask that modder how I can run that game on DosBox.

I believe I found out the problem with that error message, it might have something to do with the Music Card from the Sound Setup in that game. What's the best recommended setting cause I really hate to play the game with silence?
