Greetings 😀

I'm looking for an MSI motherboard that matches the following description in terms of both age and appearance.

Our family purchased the following XP system on August 21, 2002.
... I still have the receipt, but unfortunately, it doesn't mention the motherboard at all. Here's what I could gather:

CPU: Intel Celeron 1700 MHz (Willamette) 478 (Has to be a socket 478 board)
Memory: 256 MB DDRAM Apacer (Okay so it has to be a DDR board)
VGA: GeForce II TI AGP (Has to have a AGP slot)
Hard drive: 40 GB IBM
CD burner: HP CD-Writer Plus LGCED-8080B IDE
ROM: LiteOn 16x DVD IDE
300W ATX power supply

I know it was an MSI board with a red PCB and colored RAM slots (turquoise, or turquoise & purple)...

And I think it had "Ultra" or "Neo" in the name, because that's what keeps ringing a bell (but I could be wrong).

I just can't find a matching board that fits my memory and descriptions... and, most importantly, one that was available until around mid-August 2002 or before.

I initially thought of the MSI PT880 Neo V2 or PX8 Neo-V, but those are too new... However, visually they're very close to what I remember...

And everything dated August 2002 or before that I can find has only black Ram Slots in photos...

The problem is, back then there were countless revisions (PCB 1.x, PCB 1.2, PCB 2.0, etc.) within a single model series, and MSI seemed to like using whatever RAM slots were available at the factory.

But my Ramslots back then were definitely at least turquoise, or turquoise and purple.

But after years of searching, including using the Wayback Machine and other tools like Retroweb, I'm at my wit's end and don't know what to do next.

Even just a single photo of a suitable model from a revision that was available until August 2002 would be enough for me to possibly just buy one with black slots and have it modified, if it's not currently available...

Perhaps someone here is able to help me...
Thanks in advance.

On a basic search I found these MSI boards that have socket 478, 400MT/s FSB support, match the colour scheme and have chipsets that were released in 2001 or 2002

Thanks,
yes I also checked all of this Boards more then once, but they all where released after August 2002...At least according to the Motherboard Manuals I find on the Internet from exactly these Boards.

Like I said I spent so much time searching and didn't find anything, I hope I just missed one...

Expanded the search, I found the MSI 845 Ultra Ver. 1 on ebay but not listed on retroweb. It has a screenshot of a bios dated 2001. It's exclusively 400MT/s FSB so would only support CPUs released up to late 2002.

Edit: Ah nope the RAM slots looked coloured in the first photo but they are black

MSI 850 Pro 5 reviewed in May 2002

https://www.pcstats.com/articles/1102/index.html

Edit: Bummer it's an RDRAM board. So it has to be an 845 board as the 850 and 860 are both rdram. But at least it's evidence that MSI was using the colour scheme before August '02.

Thanks.

I did some digging what MSI Boards would be possible/ available back then until August 2002.

MSI MS-6528 V1.x (MSI 845 Pro2 LE) << Aug 2001

MSI MS-6528LE V 1.0 << Aug 2001

MSI MS-6528 V2.x (MSI 845 Pro2 ) << Oct 2001

MSI MS-6398 V1.x (MSI 845 Ultra-AR) << Nov 2001

MSI MS-6562 V1.0 (MSI 845 Pro2-C) << Jan 2002

MS-6580 V1.0/1.x (845G Max-L) << Apr 2002

MS-6566E V1.0 (MSI 845 E-Max) << Mar 2002

MSI MS-6547 V1 (MSI 645 Ultra) << Mar 2002

MSI MS-6547E V1 (MSI 645E Max-C) << Mar 2002

MS-6567 V1.1 (645E Max2-LR) << Jun 2002

MSI MS-6547 V2.1 << Jul 2002

MS-6704 V1.0 (MSI 845PE Max2-FIR) << Aug 2002

But I found no version of any of them with turquoise ram slots with a Version that existed until August 2002.

But what I found was a small proof that MSI did swap slot colors on one Model within the same Versionbranch.
