always wanted to buy a wavetable synthesizer , yamaha specific, like Yamaha DB50XG wavetable daughterboard or NEC XR385 (a DB50XG clone)
Because i like how the yamaha sounds. I have a few of other brand wavetable boards but i don´t like how it sounds

the problem is how expensice those can be, 300 dollars or 400 dollars and they seem to be rare.

is there any alternative to do a yamaha wavetable clone board?

There is some good progress on emulation of this type of hardware, eventually someone wil conjure up a MT32Pi type solution which will probably be much more affordable.

You may want to look at Yamaha MU-50 which is basically the same thing, and you can use it with any sound card etc. with MIDI output. They don't cost nearly as much as the WB cards do.

that would be great, i mean it is something desired.

just like it happened with the pico GUS, it is strange nobody tried to make that ancient and expensive wavetable board cloned.
i just saw ebay and the prices went even higher, from 400 to 900 dollars which is really crazy.

the MU-50 solution is way more budget friendly, but i like keeping the pc without any external device and less cables. all handled internally.

If you are willing to look you can find some deals by finding devices that are equivalent. For instance my mt32 is an ra-50, my sound canvas is an ra-30 and my xg module is an mdp5 I paid a fraction of what I would have paid and aside from a few little differences in the ra-50 they all do a great job.

You can easily get an old Yamaha or KORG hardware MIDI module, but you have to do some work to get them connected and configured. Alternatively, you can buy an old Yamaha or KORG keyboard with XG and use it as a hardware module, if it has the appropriate connections.
