This is indeed the most powerful card that works in AGP 2x slot. Not something I would put in Super Socket 7, but Slot 1 or Slot A will work fine.

How rare is this? Cannot see any on the interweb

These cards were the holy grail to some people who wanted maximum performance out of specific older games for a long time. I remember for Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 that once the Nvidia GeForce 8xxx series released that those drivers would not do 16bit color correctly so any card after the 7xxx series was a downgrade. Years later some fixes came, now I think dgvoodoo might be the preferred method to play many older games.

It's pretty rare I think. I have one but have only seen this one in many many years.

My card worked fine and then I discovered a blown cap. I don't use it so I put it on a shelf for many years. Recently found out it has 2 more blown caps! Without using it.... So I need to change them and test the card again.

Does the card actually work in a 3.3V AGP slot? Has anyone tried it?

Creative marketing - the card technially works in Vista with DirectX 10 installed

The card's PCB is dated week 22, 2007. They (Galaxy/Gainward) probably reused the same packaging meant for newer SKUs and slapped a couple of stickers with barcodes.

Awesome find! These really are unicorns these days. Finding one complete in box is just crazy.

Yes, it looks like they reused the box. It even has an SLI badge on the front, which is obviously not a feature that you'll find on an AGP card.

Sorry, I don't understand what you're saying with regard to my "Very Interesting!" comment.

I was saying the card was interesting because someone bothered to do the work of attaching a 7950GT GPU that no one normally cares about to an AGP card to make something that has some marketable retro value. I wasn't commenting on the capacitors, marketing or the quality of the card.

Odd that it’s worth it to upgrade a 7900gs to a 7950GT.
