Hi everybody, I've been lurking here for a very long time and finally joined. Last year I bought a PCI-X Parhelia from eBay. The model number is indicated by markings '7128-0102 REV A'. Unfortunately it arrived missing a handful of SMD capacitors from the back side. It was sold to me as working so I tried using it in a PC. After a few attempts of trying different slots etc, I finally got it to produce a signal and complete POST - but only once.
I've been trying to repair it with my soldering iron. I made some assumptions about capacitance based upon other capacitors in nearby or similar circuit patterns. I needed to remove resistors R414 and R459 so I could access and remove some capacitors to measure them. Unfortunately I didn't measure the resistors when I removed them and I think I may have replaced R459 with the wrong one - it measures 75K Ohms. I'm pretty sure I've got the right R414 in place - it measures around 35K Ohms.
After the repairs I tried using it in the same system. The card didn't produce any signal and the BIOS issued a few speaker beeps indicating a video card was not detected. I noticed a 'burning' smell and turned it off and when I removed the card I also noticed that the area with those resistors was quite warm and I suspect it was the source of the burning smell.
I've got a few questions and I'm hoping somebody with a multimeter and the same or similar card can help me ....
1) What are the resistance ratings of R414 and R459?
2) Is there a way I can get some documentation with these ratings?
3) Bonus question - what are the capacitance ratings of the missing capacitors C423 C412, C442, C470, C481, C488, C487? I realise that if you don't already know this, you'll need to remove them to measure them so please don't go doing that unless you REALLY want to.
Thanks.
