Do you use a Gotek drive or other quiet solid state FDD replacement? The FDD Synth is a small device that you insert between your computer and FDD which will listen in for the various signals (Spin the motor, move the head) and then recreate the sounds a mechanical FDD would make if given those commands.
The hardware is based off the HDD Synth project I'm also working on (currently waiting for the latest prototype to be manufactured)

The heart of the device is a Pi Pico microcontroller which listens in to signals from the FDD cable. Sound samples are held on the SD card, which can be swapped out to simulate different differences (3.5"/5.25" etc)
- HDD Synth - Recreates the sound of mechanical spinning HDD
- GameMinder - DOS games launcher
