Hi,

I'm close to giving up on this, I picked up a practically free Sony VAIO PCG-F400, long story short the HDD drive was in a state. Whilst Windows 98 QI works, there's lots of problems, worst of all I cannot control the display contrast/brightness. I can't find any kind of recovery CD anywhere for the PCG-F400 or the correct hotkey software, I've trawled all of Internet Archive and burned a series of 'coasters' that aren't supported on the laptop... Does anyone happen to have this?

Thanks for this, I've tried lots of combination of Sony software pieces, which didn't work... But I'll give these specific versions a go, see how I get on.

Unfortunately nothing provided makes HKServ.exe respond to the Fn keys, so changing the brightness/contrast isn't possible, a BIOS reset does return the contrast back to default, but yeah... The lock down on Sony VAIO recovery CDs will probably stop be ever buying another (unless included), sadly this one is destined for the recycling center.
