I put a Geforce2 MX in my Pentium II PC, it works pretty well with late 90s stuff, but has some issues with early Sega 3D games from like 1996-1997 that use D3D/directX 2/directx 3: Virtua Fighter, Virtua Fighter 2 and Daytona USA. Sadly, I like these games! And I really wish I could get them to play nicely with the card!

I've tried several Nvidia driver versions, including early ones from around the time the card was new around the year 2000, as well as ones released years later, but things are still glitchy with these games. I've also tried deleting and reinstalling different versions of directx, and even rebuilding my system from scratch to see if there was an issue with traces of old graphics cards in my registry or something along those lines, but in any case, I haven't solved the issues with these games and I'd really like to know if this card is simply going to be incompatible with them.

Here are the issues:

-The demo of Virtua Fighter 2 works fine, but the full version simply won't load. The game window will pop up for a few seconds and then it will automatically close without any game or intro graphics or logos ever displaying. The same thing happens with Virtua Fighter 1. I tried the following nvidia driver versions spanning multiple years: 6.31, 28.32, 77.72, Omega v. 1.4523, Detonator v. 6.5 and these games would not load. Also tried reinstalling the games and running them directly off the CD, which is ordinarily possible, but that didn't help. Its quite peculiar that a demo version of VF2 will run while the full version will not! There is also a later released EXE by Sega for Virtua Fighter 2 as a patch for the full version to expand the 3D acceleration capabilities of the game, but the game also does not start when trying this EXE. With a different GPU installed (ATI RagePro), these games run fine on the same system.

-Daytona USA is a little stranger (the original 1996 release, not Daytona USA Champion Edition, which was a later reprogrammed version of the game). With most drivers, the game will run, but the background sky texture will be glitched out with wrong colors and textures and the sky graphic is sliced into horizontal lines. The map that is in the HUD is also copy/pasted like 4 or 5 times across the screen horizontally, obscuring the view. I'll see about adding a picture later to better show these glitches. After I run Daytona with these glitches, my mouse cursor in Windows 98 glitches similar to the sky in the game! Random colors and horizontal lines are applied to the mouse cursor when it switches to the sprite that represents that a task is being performed or something is being loaded. This continues until I restart the PC. With a 2005 era driver that I tested, version 77.72, the background and map issue was actually fixed. However, my monitor would flash black frequently (the entire screen) about every 10 seconds as the game played, so it was still not a joy to play. Similar to the Virtua Fighter games, if I revert back to my previous gpu (ATI RagePro) the game will run fine.

If you have a geforce2 installed, could you test these games out and see if you have the same issues? And if the games run OK for you, could you tell me what driver version you are using so I can test it on my system?
