Cheers mate, it's been a long time (about 1999) since I've done anything with DOS, so this forum has been a lifesaver.

The feature I'm most looking forward to from Unisound is being able to use MIDI emulation for the AWE32 and AWE64 sound cards, since the proprietary drivers don't work very well in DOS. I hope it comes true

JazeFox has already said that feature won't be implemented as it requires a TSR and UNISOUND is not a TSR

I see, so I hope someone else can implement a TSR for that.

the best your going to find is a copy of dos32awe and use that for protected mode games.

I didn't know that, thanks
JazeFox wrote on 2020-03-13, 00:32:Current version is: v0.82a (Download link at the end of this post).
I have a feature request please.
For CS423x (in my case, a CS4237B) would you please add a MONO IN adjustment for the volume? I know that this is functional with this card because I have it connected to the PC Speaker output on my motherboard and it works. In Windows 95, I can lower and raise the volume with said adjustment in the Windows volume control.
I tried with "/VP", but it seems to ignore that.
Thanks
Almost a year since last update. Hope JazeFox is OK. Love this gem. I'm eager to know if any update is soon to be released.
Recently acquired more ISA sound cards. I love to test the sound of them easily with Unisound. Question, can this card be added in the future? If not, its ok, these are the only ones left that I have that Unisound doesnt work:
JAZZ MVD1216B / OPTi 82C929A / Yamaha YMF701B-S.
Thanks
All of those cards are non-PnP so most unlikely to get any support.
T-04YBSC, a new YMF71x based sound card & Official VOGONS thread about it
Newly made 4MB 60ns 30pin SIMMs ~
mida sa loed ? nagunii aru ei saa 😜
I thought so too but at least the Jazz16 based cards are PnP according to dosdays.co.uk
It does require a non-resident initialization driver in config.sys though. And is not fully SB compatible, with other quirks under DOS.
I have absolutely no knowledge nor experience of these cards, which made me curious and looking for more info in the first place.

For opti you have the optimized drivers
https://github.com/JKnipperts/OPTi82c929_Driver
test and check if work best for you. For me not, i open a Issue in 2020, but i lost my github account to contribute more

It is PnP only in the sense that it doesn't use jumpers to configure the resources, but not in the ISA Plug and Play 1.0 specification compliant way which came out sometime in 1995 while the Jazz predates that.

UNISOUND is self described as supporting some pre-PnP software configurable cards so it would be up to the creator on whether they would want to add more to that list

Gotcha, makes sense! 😀

JazeFox has mentioned more than once that he has no plans to add support for any more cards that are not ISA PnP-compliant, and has also requested that we not ask for such support. Asking repeatedly isn't likely to change his mind.

Ok, understood.
Hi guys... can UNISOUND cause mouse problems ?
I'm really mad for a week trying to play INDIANA JONES AND THE FATE OF ATLANTIS CD talkie version...
The game is ripped and copied on HDD
UNISOUND loaded
MOUSE loaded (and tested is working)
If I launch the game I have NO MOUSE, the audio is WORKING PERFECT...
If I launch the game declaring the SOUND CARD variables (ex. indiana.exe m (mouse) s220/5/8 (addr/int/k bufsize) MOUSE and AUDIO IS PERFECT...
but what's the problem? that I want to use a ROLAND MT-32 for the midi and SOUNBLASTER for the other audio...
If I declare the s220/5/8 of the soundblaster I CAN'T declare the parameter "r" of ROLAND...
I don't know if all of this make sense...
Tried also different MOUSE drivers with no luck...
Any idea guys?
thankyou !!!

I had problems with some lucasarts games and mouse drivers. Using v2.0 (rather than 1.9 or 2.1) of cutemouse fixed the problem.
I think freedos was also an issue, if you're using that maybe try regular MSDOS

Cutemouse 2.0 solves an issue where the mouse works but the game freezes if you move the mouse while playing soundblaster audio, it may not help in your situation
I think your issue may be related to the MPU401 port, the game offers port 330, 332, 334 and 336 (using r/r1, r2, r3 and r4 respectively) but most sound cards will only offer 300/310/320/330 as MIDI ports. So if unisound has initialised the MPU401 port to anything other than 330, roland will not work with this game.
Or maybe it was hard to understand, if you launch with "atlantis.exe m r" then the mouse and roland is working?
