I have the DVD version of the game without the DXR card since Win11 won't work with it. Installing the game, I get the VirtualProtect() error, which gets fixed by HandleAPIExceptions shim.

Now playing the game, I get a ton of missing VOB files errors. Reading PCGW, it advises upon using DXMCI.

Following the website, installing DXMCI -> using the alternate mpeg2.dll -> having mpeg2dec and ac3filter installed, the best I get is a black screen with audio playing behind.

I also got the GOG version and it behaves exactly the same.

On the GOG version (DVD version crashes with the new mpeg2.dll), removing ddhack(dxwrap.dll), I tried to use DxWnd and the videos only play there: flickering and not correctly coordinated on the screen. Replacing it with my ffdshow package that I used for Spycraft, the behaviour is still exactly the same.

So I am at a dead end: it works in window with DxWnd but with flickering and while I want to play fullscreen, the videos don't appear in fullscreen at all.
