Let me elaborate a bit first.
I am a musician for almost 20 years now. I know how midi works to the stop bit but since as a teen I could only dream of making music on my pc I have little clue about any MPU hardware that would enable me to address 2x16 or even 3x16 out channels. I don’t need multi midi in. 1 in is fine) There is the v24s from voyetra but I wouldn’t know how to get that hardware anywhere.
I currently have an AWE32 and voyetra spg on my 486 machine which works fine for the most part. I can route midi in and midi out to and from my devices. But only 16in/16out.
I have basically two questions:
Can I reconfigure the 16 emu channels of the awe32 in dos to use the awe32 as a 2x16 midi device via some breakout box? (I have read that the awe32 has 16 midi I/o channels and 16 for the emu). I have a 1x in/4x out box but it kinda works like a thru box only with the awe
Is there an MPU isa midi card that can do 16in/2x16out (at least) that is kinda available on the used market?
Thanks for your help.
