Hi,

You are above minimum requirements so Carmageddon 2 should run well, can you post the driver versions you are using?
Also can you enter the BIOS and see if the cache settings are correct?

Driver version 5.32 and on bios all cache settings enabled. Should i change jumpers on mobo maybe?

The 3dmark results seem to be okay for me for that card and CPU combination.
The "window protection error" is a bit bothersome, but it might be nothing.
The motherboard does have a "turbo" jumper near the CPU which reading the manual actually unlocks higher frequencies, but I think this should work without any OC.
What kind of monitor do you have? Maybe the the card is VSync-ing to a very low frequency.

EDIT: You can also check the CPU jumpers according to this manual: https://download1.gigabyte.com/Files/Manual/m … 77aa7add69f05b4, however based on the 3DMark results, that doesn't seem to be the issue.

I cannot find a detailed description of that monitor, but it I'm also don't see anyone complaining about it either, so I would assume that it is working correctly with at least a 60 Hz refresh rate, which even with VSync on and syncing on every second frame is still 30 FPS, so that would still feel reasonably smooth, so I don't think that it is the limitation.
Can you try an OpenGL game to rule out a D3D driver issue?

Hmm the driver version 5.32 came out just a bit later than the card, and generally older drivers have better performance with NVIDIA cards, so it should be good, but maybe this specific version has an issue with this GPU, I think we can try one of the last ones to support this card to debug:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/win9x-8198/
Most likely the performance will be worse, but if it is a specific driver bug with that version it might be better.

Yes carmaggedon 2 in now worse than other drivers. So its driver? Or what , 😀 thanks

Sorry, was distracted by IRL issues.

Okay so it is most likely not a direct bug in the driver. (Or it is possible that the performance degradation in the later NVIDIA driver was so large that it has an effect larger than the issue this driver version having 😀)

It is an interesting issue because it seemingly affects D3D games but not the OpenGL ones. (Or at least D3D works better) If it would be only Carmageddon 2, then I would say Carmageddon 2 is a game kind of famous of not having the most stable FPS (You can search for "carmageddon 2 low fps" and get quite a few results), but if multiple D3D games are affected then there is most likely something else in the equation.

I will still think about this issue, but now I don't really have an exact idea what to do.

Two ideas that still can be tried out:
1. Install a different version of the driver from for example https://www.vogonsdrivers.com/index.php?catid … &menustate=14,1 (This site as it is mentioned at the bottom of it is not officially associated with vogons.org), I would try some of the other lower ones like 06.31, sometimes NVIDIA drivers did increase performance, just usually after a while the cards were released performance would fall with later drivers.
2. If you have the original, non-steam release of Half-Life, then you could try installing that and see how it performs when configured for d3d, I have played it on a very similar configuration back then and it did not have any noticeable FPS issues, so if that also has issues, then it is basically confirmed to be a global problem with D3D on that system.

I don't remember this chipset having any particular problems with Geforce 2s, and you have written that the issue is mostly affecting D3D games, so I find it unlikely to be the root cause there, but a try with a different driver version can be made, you can find some drivers for the chipset here:
https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/gigaby … ga-6bxc-rev-2-0
I have used this site multiple times, and I have not yet got a virus or any kind of malware from it, obviously it is always good to err on the side of caution and do a Virus check with anything downloaded.

That site also have different BIOS revisions on it, flashing the BIOS always have a small chance of doing something bad, especially if you don't have a UPS and a power outage happens just as luck usually have it, so I only recommend flashing the BIOS if you have a UPS and willing to take a small chance at bricking the motherboard.

İts better with 06 31 but not best. Thanks for entries

For people saw this thread my specs are :

mobo : Gigabyte GA-6BXC (rev. 2.0)
Cpu : slot 1 SL3D5 (Intel Pentium IIl 550 MHz)
Gpu : asus v7100 pro - 64 mb - geforce 2.
256 mb sdram.

Upgraded system to p3 550 .

3dmark score at the end

This system very underperforms for me.

Another card voodoo banshee so much better with d3d games.

The ASUS v7100 pro like most Geforce 2's except some MX variants are an AGP card.
IIRC the Voodoo Banshee came in both PCI and AGP versions, if it is the PCI version and performs much better it is possible that there is something wrong with the AGP configuration or the AGP port itself.

Disable V-Sync. Geforces have it enabled by default in the most used driver version and they run slow unless turned off.

The latest Intel INF chipset driver for the 440BX is v3.20.1008, released on 2001/10/10 - it is available from the drivers section of my website (-> https://soggi.org/drivers/drivers.htm).

There is no vysnc option on nvidia control panel. Only on opengl not direct3d
